6 of the Poshest Doggy Hotels in the World https://oohlalaposhpets.com/2018/09/6-of-the-poshest-doggy-hotels-in-the-world/ Sat, 08 Sep 2018 03:17:08 +0000 https://oohlalaposhpets.com/?p=48633

The Luxury pet hotel market is booming. People can’t seem to get enough royalty when it comes to their dogs. Nothing is too good for your pooch, but some of the amenities at these expensive palaces might be pushing it!

Here are six of the world’s most luxurious pet hotels::

1. The Barkley Pet Hotel — Los Angeles

A stone’s throw from the L.A. Four Seasons hotel, the Barkley offers all the amenities of its renowned neighbor — and more. Offering individual fur-dying, stenciling, or a bejeweled “pawdicure”. Pampered pooches get to stay in rooms on Rodeo Drive. Your pup can get surfing lessons at Barkley Beach.

The luxury suites at the Barkley feature individual climate control, flat-screen televisions, webcam access, custom furniture, and piped music. There are swimming lessons for residents with personal swim instructors, and fully trained animal masseurs. You can even order a steak from the Four Seasons menu.

2. Canis Resort — Munich, Germany

With dog lodges designed by noted architects and a main building created in the Bauhaus style, the Canis places the emphasis on ambience, wanting to create a unique, restful, organic stay for your pooch. The dog lodges at Canis Resort have individual runs. Canis Lodge also offers grooming, physiotherapy, and wellness sessions.

Expertly trained dog-sitters are on hand to see to your hound’s every whim. They not only provide the usual grooming and exercise regimes, but also offer physiotherapy and wellness treatments, which involve an initial 90-minute therapy session followed by orthopedic and neurological analysis.

3. Pet’s Dream Park Hotel — Taipei, Taiwan

If you’re a little jittery about leaving your beloved canine pal in the care of strangers, the Pet’s Dream Park might be perfect for you. They have an extensive series of webcams set up so you can track your hound’s progress no matter where they are or what they are up to. You can even get the feed on your cell phone. Stylish air-conditioned rooms are offered at the Pet’s Dream Park Hotel along with group playtime. Each furry little guest gets her own room with AC, plus there’s an indoor sports field and a swimming pool.

4. Actuel Dogs — Paris

This swanky logement du chien is on the outskirts of Paris, so you could expect the emphasis to be on food. At the Actuel, dogs are treated to fine cuisine, and then they can work it all off with a series of bespoke exercise activities including hiking, biking, and jogging.

The Parisian owners also want to make sure there’s a pragmatic French side to their endeavor; they have steered clear of the more extreme fur dyeing and nail-jeweling elements of some of the more notable pet hotels.

5. Beverly Hills Hotel

If you have a doggie diva who needs to be appeased, then the old Hollywood style and luxurious surroundings of the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel might be ideal for you and your pup to enjoy the Canine Connoisseur Program.

In one of the famed bungalows that have housed stars such as Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe and Marlene Dietrich, your own personal four-legged starlet will be treated to a freshly-baked doggie bone, with his name iced onto it, plus Beverly Hills Hotel-branded bed, bowl, and even a pink tennis ball.

While you’re there, it would be rude of you not to sample the spa, the famous Polo Lounge bar, and one of the many pools.

6. D Pet Hotel — New York

Your mutt will have to be dragged kicking and howling from this swanky New York City oasis of luxury after experiencing the suites with designer Kuranda dog beds, flatscreen TVs, three private 6,000-square-feet dog parks, a luxury boutique, and chauffeur service that will collect your pooch in a Ferrari, Bentley, or Rolls-Royce.

As well as a spa featuring massage, aromatherapy, detoxifying thermal wraps and calming music, you can also use the custom doggie treadmills and even a personal trainer.

5 Benefits of Dog Grooming at Ooh La La Posh Pets https://oohlalaposhpets.com/2018/09/5-benefits-of-dog-grooming-at-ooh-la-la-posh-pets/ Sat, 08 Sep 2018 02:59:42 +0000 https://oohlalaposhpets.com/?p=48629

1. Improve Appearance and Smell

Whether you are bathing your dog to remove an unpleasant odor, or just dirt, they’ll emerge smelling great. A groom will help tame those flyaway hairs, sort out messy bums and make sure your dog looks great too.

2. Keeps Their Coat Healthy While Controlling Shedding

The bathing part of a groom, with the right products, will help remove old hair, smell, dirt and any excess oil from your dogs’ skin. Think shiny coats! Brushing also has multiple benefits. While regular brushing can reduce the need to bathe more frequently, it is also great for the health of their coats. Just like us, brushing increases the blood circulation under the fur, promoting healthy growth.

3. It’s Not Just a Bath and Brush

Many people assume that grooming your dog, will involve a quick brush and bath. If you are grooming regularly then this may sometimes be the case, but in the main, a dog groom will also address the following:

While some dogs grow quicker and their coat requires more brushing than others, as they moult, their loose hairs can become matted. If not brushed regularly (and thoroughly), they can form into heavy bulk mats and when close to the skin, this can be very sore for the dog. Using a comb as well as a brush will help you identify these areas when grooming and as you get to know your dog, you’ll spot the common areas for these. Millie has a habit of getting these right behind her ear and between her upper arm and chest. So I know to keep a more regular check on these areas.

Paw Pads can become matted and must be regularly checked, clipped and tidied up. These areas, in particular, can become hard with dirt and great, causing some discomfort and are easy to get missed if your dog has a shorter body hair but thicker leg/paw hair.
Your dog’s ears may have hair deep in the canal that needs to be removed. Some dogs can also be prone to ear infections and may require more regular cleaning, along with hair removal, to avoid regular trips to the vets.

While hearing that ‘click-click’ when your dog walks on hard floors is a giveaway that they need their nails checked, a groom will give you or a groomer, the chance to check their nails over properly. If your dog’s nails aren’t looking after themselves, their untrimmed nails can break, bleed or even grow into their feet, causing them a lot of discomfort. That includes those dew claws which can sometimes be overlooked!

Removing hair from around a dog’s eyes is not just about appearance. Not only can the long hair in their eyes irritate your dog, but can cause damage to their eyes too. Removing this hair regularly, keeps them healthy and will help you check if there are any crusts or issues around the eyes that need to be checked over.

In our experience, there have been times when we’ve looked a dog and bar some tidying up, it has generally looked in good condition. IT’s only once we’ve started to look at paw pads, ears and nails we’ve discovered that they’ve previously not been checked due to lack of grooming, both at home and professionally.

4. Increase The Bond Between You and Your Pet

We all know that spending time with our dogs helps strengthen the positive relationship between us. A visit to Ooh La La Posh Pets can help reduce stress and help with socialization. The earlier that you can start, the better, and more often you can groom your dog, the better. The time and effort will pay off and your dog will learn that letting a groomer handle various part of their body does not result in pain. We actually have dogs who love to be groomed and know that future grooms and any vet checks will be much more comfortable and less stressful for them.

5. Check for Health Issues

Grooming is the perfect opportunity for you to check out your dog’s body on a regular basis as there can be times where your dog may have developed lumps, bumps, cuts, grazes or even swelling. These may be in places that you don’t necessarily spot during your day to day interactions with them. Additional things to look out for include fleas or ticks, blocked anal glands, ears, teeth, the brightness of eyes and coat.
